1259 Everett Ave.

****************************************************************

About ten years ago, Karen and I bought 1259 Everett Ave.
The first time we walked into this house, our jaws dropped.
We really were just curious as to what the house looked like inside.
We were impressed at the magnificence of the exterior and wanted to see more.
We bought the house.
Living here has been almost a religious experience.
The integrity of structures of this sort is great.
When the Furnish Family bought and renovated it (two owners back), they did a lot of work.
Very little of the woodwork has paint on it. (They did a LOT of stripping of paint. And WHY the heck would anyone have PAINTED all that woodwork?...Geez!)
With the finished and incredible third floor, there is something like 4,600-4,800 square feet...a LOT of house.
The third floor is it's own little world. Dynamite!
We have since moved Karen's mother down from Cincinnati to live with us. Karen has just retired from teaching and we are free to go elsewhere. Since Mom also has a really nice house on an acre of land in Cinci and they are a bit anxious to return to those roots, we are willing to sell out here.

We are selling by owner.
We don't need to move, so it is going on the market and when it sells, it sells.
No Biggie!

There are some aspects of the house that need attention.
The exterior needs painting sometime soon.
The in-ground pool (yes, in-ground) needs some work, but we really had not used it for a few years, enough to merit the sweat to cure it's ills. It's not that big of a deal, but it's low on our priorities...we just weren't using it that much.
We are into re-furb projects as you read this and they will happen as they happen.
Anyone who views the house will not see a "perfectly staged house for sale", all cleared out and HouseBeautiful-looking, as on HGTV. We are LIVING here. We WILL remain comfy here till we move. We are not going to store half of our belongings to make the rooms look more spacious.
We are not going to put a fresh coat of paint on everything to "gloss it up" for sale. Whoever moves in here might want to choose their own colors.
If you cannot see past "our lives" and a lived-in home, to realize the size of rooms and beauty of the appointments...and if you cannot figure out with a tape measure, how well your furnishings will fit here, then look elsewhere.

This is a very unique house, from the large size of its base to the three-story turret... to the highest roof line in the immediate neighborhood. If you are willing to shell out the money, you DO want to live here.

The Cherokee Triangle area is very safe and secure, so you can feel comfortable on the streets at night...your kids, too. But I believe strongly in having the very best surveilance sytem available. I suggest that when you buy this house, you use it.

Four bedrooms
Three baths (one on the first floor, two on the second)
BIG kitchen
Big laundry room (originally the "mud room), adjoining the kitchen
Front and rear staircases
Beautiful inlaid hardwood floors in The Grand Entrance Hall, Two Parlors and Dining Room
A LOT of room!
If you are going to live in this wonderful town, you may as well live it right...
...right HERE!...1259 Everett Avenue...in the glorious, nifty and very convenient Highlands.

After visiting this site, if you feel that you might be interested in learning more, contact us BY EMAIL ONLY.

If you're a neighbor and you see us on the porch, we aren't gonna call the cops or anything like that, if you want to walk up and talk to us about a good time to go through the house.
We will be happy to set up an appointment.

Selling by owner, we can work the price considerably.
Depending on the remaining "projects", the price can be negotiated.

We expect to start "listing" the house by sometime in mid to late August and we should have arrived at a price by then.
If you are SERIOUSLY interested, email us to discuss an earlier viewing.

Even with the economy as it HAS been, THIS place is a stand-out. The suck-o market hasn't affected as much, this niche of real estate.
I, honestly, don't think that we will be sitting on this house for very long.

(I will also throw in a 40-foot extension ladder for those high spots on the exterior)

I just removed the two holly trees...

I promise! The partially submerged bowling ball will go with the house!

The front door...from the inside (duh)

...and looking straight up from there, to the landing at the top of the stairs

From the front door, through to the kitchen at the back of the house

...and UP the stairs...

...and the landing from the top of the front staircase.

...and various other shots around and in the house!

Now, if your name is "Griffin", you MUST buy this house!

yeah, yeah...due a paint job.
